The gothic town of Whitby is around 30 minutes from Scarborough. Some of the countries best fish and chips can be found here as well as Whitby Abbey, the harbour, the Whalebone Arch and beach are all worth a visit.

Filey

Head in the opposite direction to Scarborough and you will find the old fishing town of Filey. The long sandy beach is perfect for a day out by the sea, with plenty of refreshments available on the seafront. There is also a small outdoor paddling pool which kids love!

The traditional English seaside town of Bridlington is popular among our owners. There is plenty for the kids to do from playing in the arcades to splashing in the sea and playing on the beach.

  • Robin Hood's Bay: Smugglers and Pirates used to run their goods through the narrow streets and underground passages of this charming village on the East Coast between Scarborough and Whitby. Today it remains a popular destination for a lovely day out with stunning views.
  • Goathland Village: Fans of Heartbeat will recognise this village as the setting for the TV programme. Visit the now famous village green, shops and tea rooms. All set in the stunning surrounds of the North York Moors.
  • Castle Howard: The Grade II listed building is billed as one of the 'best mansions in the world.' Its spectacular gardens are the foreground for the stunning house behind.
  • The Fun Farm: Just a short walk from the Flower of May, this indoor play area is lots of fun and has something for various ages.
  • Flamingo Land: Whether you enjoy rollercoasters or a more relaxed day out in the zoo, all ages can enjoy themselves at Flamingo Land.
  • Alpamare: If it's slides and outdoor pools you want, head to Alpamare in Scarborough.
  • Sea Life Centre: A mostly indoor attraction on Scarborough's North Bay. Inside the iconic white pyramid buildings are various sea life some of which you can get up close and personal with!
  • Playdale Farm: A great combination of being able to feed the animals and play equipment which is suitable for kids of all ages.
  • Peasholm Park: Take a boat on the lake and walk around the Chinese gardens at Peasholm Park. During the summer, be sure to catch the iconic Naval Warfare.
  • Scarborough Open Air Theatre: Pick up tickets to see one of the acts on this summer. Previous visitors include Elton John, Little Mix, Jess Glynne, Britney Spears, Noel Gallagher, Lionel Richie, Alfie Boe and more!
  • North Yorkshire Moors Railway: Running from Pickering to Whitby, this steam train takes you through glorious countryside and through stunning villages.
